Fear is TEMPORARY! The Lord said, "I will teach you the way you should go!"

The scary cliff
It all started last October at our mission training in Colorado.  I saw my husband on the edge of a big cliff (from my perspective) and it scared me.  God was dealing with me on so many levels and one of them was to give my husband to the Lord.

That may sound silly, but I struggled with this for a long time.  After you lose someone really close to you, you don't want to have to go through it again.  For over a year, the Lord has been asking me to place him in His hands.  Sure, in my mind I would say that was okay, but my actions didn't match up.

Larry had been wanting a scooter for a long time.  "It's cheap on gas and a great way to get around," he would say.  Since we are going to be living further away from HCJB starting in January, it would be a cheap vehicle to buy.  Plus he always gets motion sickness riding the bus.   That's when I began to pray.  The Lord gave me this verse in Costa Rica- Psalms 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you-the Lord's unfailing love surrounds those who trust in him."

Every time I would talk to people from the "world" I would think NO WAY!  But when I was in God's word, He continued to give me confidence and trust in Him.  For example, He reminded me that I needed to submit to my husband in EVERYTHING (Ephesians 5).  That I could not even add an hour to my life by worrying (Matthew 6) and that God already knows the days ordained for me (Psalms 138).  If I TRULY believed the words he was speaking to me, then why wouldn't I place Larry at His feet, knowing that I can not control anything?

I realized that we all have our fears.  Some seem silly like "You'll shoot your eye out!" from the movie 'A Christmas Story.'  Whether we are venturing out into a new unknown or whether it was a fear that was instilled in us as children, the concept is the same.  Fear is temporary because it will only control our thoughts/actions as long as allow it to.  Either we will be conquered by fear and stuck in it, or we will conquer the fear.

And let us be reminded that fear is not from God!  For we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Romans 8).  The Lord has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you."  So we say with CONFIDENCE, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.  WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?"

Soooo, after months of me praying asking for wisdom and guidance, my hubby got his wish:-)

Waiting for Larry to get home
Callie wanted to watch for her Daddy too!
